Keeping Your Business and Home Clean

Learn What To Do If Someone Comes Into Your Business With A Contagious Illness

When you own a business, it is your responsibility to do everything that you can to keep your employees and customers as safe as you can at all times. If someone who works for you or someone who came into the building is diagnosed with an illness that is highly contagious, it is your responsibility to take all necessary steps to stop the illness from spreading throughout your business. The guide below walks you through the process for having your business thoroughly cleaned to stop the spread of an illness.

Temporarily Close Your Business

While you may lose money for a few days, it is important to stop the spread of the illness right away. Shutting down your business until it can be thoroughly cleaned is the morally right thing to do. You need to lock the building, post signs, and contact employees to let them know that they cannot come to work until the building has been thoroughly cleaned.

Contact a Professional Cleaning Company

The first thing you need to do is contact a professional business cleaning company. Let them know exactly what illness you are worried about spreading through their business and have them come to your business right away to start cleaning. The company needs to know what they are cleaning up so that they can properly protect their employees before they come into the business.

Have Your Business Tested

Before you allow anyone to come back to work or for customers to come to your business, you need to have everything tested to make sure that there are no traces of the illness within your business. You can contact the local branch of the CDC to have them send out a technician to test your business for you. You simply need to explain what happened and pay a small fee to have them do the testing for you. It will be worth the investment if it stops the spread of an illness throughout your business.

Once the business has been cleared, you can go back to work as usual. Be sure to keep your employees updated about what is going on and advise them to seek medical treatment if they notice any of the symptoms associated with the illness. You do not want to have the entire business thoroughly cleaned only to have an employee come back into the business with the same illness. It will completely defeat the purpose of having the business cleaned.
